Maui’s Garden of Eden

The Road to Hana on Maui is an incredible drive along a meandering route on the rainforest dense, windward side of Maui. There is so much to see and do along the drive and one of the most popular stops is the Garden of Eden Arboretum.

The arboretum is the handiwork of Maui’s first certified arborist, Alan Bradbury. Back in the early 1990s he established this lush botanical garden, which is maintained in a natural, earth friendly manner, without any pesticides and rare use of herbicides.

The gardens offer over 700 botanically labeled species of plants in a lush rainforest setting. There are beautiful look outs with vistas of waterfalls and verdant hills and ravines.

The entrance fee for the gardens is $15 for adults and $5 for children; there are discounts available for AAA members, students and military.

It was raining during our entire visit to the Garden of Eden, which is not uncommon along the Road to Hana; rain comes and goes frequently along the windward side of the island. Despite the rain we toured the gardens and stopped to take pics along the way.

On huge perk was the super cool food truck located near the entrance to the garden.  We were able to grab some yummy fish tacos with mango and pineapple (delicious!) and fresh fruit smoothies 🙂

The Garden of Eden on Maui’s Road to Hana is a quaint stop along a lovely, adventurous road trip.  We were guests of the Garden of Eden and enjoyed our time there, though we will not likely return the next time we do the Road to Hana.  There are new places to see the next time around!

Have any of you explored Maui’s Road to Hana?  If so what were your favorite stops?

We were literally there in Maui yesterday. We planned our trip to Maui so last minute that we actually booked our place to stay on the plane, right before we lost wifi. We didn’t end up doing it, but plan to when we come back! Lovely photos

I love the name of your site. Precious Mommy is so cute 🙂 Believe it or not, a friend of mine mentioned this place to me before! But I never got to see photos so her description never quite captured the experience like you have. It looks so tranquil / serene. Perhaps one day, I will be able to see this firsthand!
