The Miami Children’s Museum provided us with a fun and educational activity one day during our last trip to Miami in the Spring. We stayed downtown for a few days as a sort of layover on our road trip to the Florida Keys. We found that this children’s museum was conveniently located near to our hotel and was easily accessible. We had an awesome visit and definitely plan to visit again on our next trip to the Miami area. Here are the top 5 reasons we feel the Miami Children’s Museum is a great place for families and kids.
The lobby of the museum has a gift/souvenir shop as well as a Subway Restaurant located connected to it.
The museum is easily accessible with amenities.
We were easily able to find the museum and parking was plentiful. There were picnic tables outside the museum for eating packed lunches and a Subway restaurant was located off the lobby for purchasing food if necessary. There is also a play area outdoors for kids to explore.

The Miami Children’s Museum is a large museum with many different types of exhibits for children of all ages.
This museum takes up two floors of the modern looking building. There are over 15 exhibits to engage your kids including a large Port Miami zone with a HUGE replica of a Carnival cruise ship they can board, a newly updated Publix super market and 4 outdoor exhibits.

The museum features traveling exhibits throughout the year so there is always something new to see and experience.
During our visit, the traveling exhibit featured cultural celebrations from Asian countries. It was just as much fun for us parents as it was for the kids as Hubby and I learned a bit about the different cultures featured there and even got down with our kids, exploring the different activities there. The traveling exhibits rotate 2-3 times per year so there is always something new to see!
We truly loved the Asian exhibit during our visit which featured an open air market, rural home settings for the kids to role play in and also holiday and cultural artifacts including musical instruments.

The museum offers a variety of special programs that offer unique experiences for families.
Each week there are special days and events for families to enjoy. Mini Mondays feature special activities for children from infancy to age 5 in a quieter setting. Families with children on the autism spectrum or sensory processing disorders are treated to a day of special programming on Sensory Saturdays. There are performing arts presentations as well as an art studio which offer unique programs for the children throughout the year.

We loved the Bank of America exhibit where the girls got to play games and learn about managing finances and even investing!
In the Bank of America vault we found a cool game based on a mystery, encouraging our girls to use their critical thinking skills and math basics
Children love the exhibits and learn while they play.
In some ways, this is the most important factor in choosing to spend your day at Miami’s children’s museum. Our children (aged 4 and 8 at the time) had a total and complete blast exploring the museum. I really enjoyed how most exhibits were multifaceted to the point that both of my girls could engage in the activities and play while learning something new.
We barely had to time to explore the Art exhibit which featured several musical instruments, an actual recording studio where the kids could sing karaoke style to classic songs and record their renditions, and musical history exhibits aimed at the little ones.
The Miami Children’s Museum is a well managed, clean and fun recreational and learning venue for youngsters. The Miami museum ranks high on the many children’s museums we’ve visited across the country. If you are ever passing through or visiting the Miami area it is certainly worth a visit. As parents of younger children I’m sure many of you have visited your local children’s museums or make a point of seeking out similar places when on vacation.
