We had a chance to cruise the brand new Norwegian Escape last year on an Eastern Caribbean itinerary. Cruising as a family is one of the easiest vacations for us since we live in FL and are within driving distance of the main cruising ports here. Our itinerary on the swanky, uber modern Escape included St. Thomas, Tortola and Nassau.
Trip Reports
Chichen Itza is one of the modern wonders of the world and an epically awesome place to visit as a family. I must admit that I had been apprehensive about visiting Chichen Itza with the kids for a long time. I would look wistfully at the pics of other families or friends traveling there and thought that I would not be able to take a trip like that for a long time.
Xcaret is an incredible cultural, eco park located in Riviera Maya. If you are visiting Riviera Maya for any length of time, it is totally worth it to include a visit to Xcaret in your itinerary. The park offers a bounty of activities for visitors including an opportunity to swim in the cenote rivers weaving through the park. We decided to give cenote swimming a try on our first visit to Xcaret and it was quite and adventure! We compiled a list of tips that should help you plan well for your swim through the rivers at Xcaret.
Norwegian Escape is an awesome ship for families and we were able to sail to the Eastern Caribbean with the kids in the fall of 2016. The first two days onboard were sea days and we thoroughly enjoyed our time exploring the ship and even found opportunities to complete school work (homeschool travels FTW!!).
Tortola is a quiet, beautiful island in the British Virgin Islands of the Caribbean. It is a common cruise port and features many quiet resorts for vacationers wanting a relaxed vacation with lush mountain views and beautiful beaches. One of the best ways to experience the beauty of this island is to take a zipline canopy tour! Here are my top 3 reasons to try a Canopy Tour when visiting Tortola…
Hubby and I visited the Virgin Islands in Summer 2016 and instantly fell in love with these beautiful, picturesque islands. We flew in and out of St. Thomas and though we spent the majority of our vacation on Scrub Island off the coast of Tortola, we did spend one night prior to our return at the Ritz Carlton on St. Thomas. One night just wasn’t enough and I was immediately enamored with this wonderful resort. I decided to write a post outlining the amazing property and what I loved most about staying there.
We enjoy cruising as a family. Living in Central Florida makes it easy and economical because we don’t have flight costs on top of our cruise fare. I sailed on the Norwegian Escape in October of 2016. Our first morning onboard was sunny and clear. Hurricane Matthew was gearing up strength in another part of the Caribbean but our skies were blue and the ocean breeze was SO refreshing.
