Earlier this summer Hubby and I were blessed to take a kid free vacation as a belated 10th anniversary celebration. We flew our daughters up to MD to spend the week with our parents (the grandparents split up the time with the girls) and from Washington DC we began our journey to Scrub Island in the British Virgin Islands.
Scrub Island Resort and Marina is located off the coast of Tortola, an island in the British Virgin Islands. We flew into neighboring St Thomas and then bought passage on a ferry over to Tortola. From Trellis Bay on Tortola there is a complimentary shuttle over to Scrub Island Resort.
The resort, which is now part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, is a boutique hotel that also offers multiple villas for lease. The marina offers a convenient and full service stop for chartered boats that frequent the Virgin Islands.
We had a lovely one bedroom suite for our stay which featured a fully stocked kitchen, living room, large balcony, half bathroom and full bathroom off the beautiful master bedroom.
There are two main restaurants at the resort, Tierra Tierra and the fine dining, Caravela. On North Beach there you will find the One Shoe Beach Bar and Grill.
The resort has a lovely infiniti edge pool as well as zero entry pool with a fun waterslide.
The resort hosts a marina which was full most of the time we were there. There is also a dive shop and deli/grocery store which was expensive but convenient. We were able to purchase items to prepare our own meals and snacks during our stay. The dive shop is run by DIVE BVI which also offers tours; we booked two tours with them which were phenomenal experiences.
The hotel offers free shuttle service every half hour to Trellis Bay on Tortola which makes it easy to explore the surrounding islands.
Because Scrub Island Resort and Marina is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection you can use all of your Marriott Rewards Points toward stays at this lovely resort.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day, with the kids. This was our first visit to the Virgin Islands and we fell in love!
