Norwegian Escape Eastern Caribbean Cruise: Travelogue Day One

I had my eye on the Norwegian Escape for about one year; it debuted in 2015 and hubby and I were intrigued by the fresh, modern appeal of NCL’s newest ship. Off and on throughout the year I would casually check the rates to see how prices fluctuated with the season. I was not surprised to see prices drop after the summer 2016 season ended and hurricane season started but I was shocked at the incredible rates available in late Sept and October of this year.

Hubby and I talked it over and decided that I would take the girls and go with a one of my closest friends during the first week of October. He had to travel on business that week anyways so it seemed like a win win!

The Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory is located on the famous Duval Street in the heart of Key West. While we were in town for a business conference I took the girls on an excursion to see this quaint museum and conservatory and it was very interesting.

Scrub Island Resort, Spa and Marina

Earlier this summer Hubby and I were blessed to take a kid free vacation as a belated 10^th anniversary celebration. We flew our daughters up to MD to spend the week with our parents (the grandparents split up the time with the girls) and from Washington DC we began our journey to Scrub Island in the British Virgin Islands.

Disney sure knows what they are doing by scheduling the stop at Castaway Cay on the final day of the majority of their Caribbean cruises. Visits to Castaway Cay are always quite memorable and our visit this time was nothing less.

Our Day Trip at Sea with DIVE BVI

In July 2016 we spent an incredible week at Scrub Island Resort, Spa and Marina off the coast of Tortola, BVI. Among the resorts features is the DIVE BVI shop and station. This company provides day trips to surrounding islands and support to the marina.

Disney Fantasy Family Cruise- Travelogue Day 6 (Sea Day)

By some miracle, the morning after the awesome Star Wars Day at Sea we all slept in until 9:30 (yes, that’s a miracle in our household lol). We were all wiped out from the excitement the day before and the late night that culminated in awesome firework display.

Disney Fantasy- Travelogue Day 5- Star Wars Day at Sea

Star Wars Day at sea was our 5^th day on the Disney Fantasy. I am the only Star Wars Fan in my family; my hubby enjoys the movies but is not a Lucas geek like I am. My girls were able to see Episode VII a few weeks after the cruise and they actually enjoyed it. But while we were sailing, they didn’t have more than a cursory knowledge of all the characters. Nonetheless, we all had heightened anticipation when we began the day, looking forward to the fun atmosphere around the ship and the special programs that would be held that day.

Disney Fantasy Family Cruise- Travelogue Day 4

The fourth day of our Disney Fantasy cruise was a port day on the lovely island of Grand Cayman.

Disney Fantasy Family Cruise- Travelogue Day 3- Cozumel

Our first stop on our 7 night Disney Western Caribbean cruise was Cozumel. We had been to this small island once before with the girls, on our first Disney cruise, but we knew there was so much more to see and wanted to do something a little more adventurous. We had spent the day prior to our visit onboard enjoying a relaxing sea day. The evening before we arrived in port we visited the shore excursions desk onboard and booked a tour hosted through Disney Cruise line.

5 THINGS NOT TO DO ON YOUR FIRST VISIT TO THE MIAMI ZOO

Earlier this year our family took a trip to the Zoo Miami. We passed through Miami on our way to the Florida Keys on a business trip for my husband. We decided to break up the 7 hour trip from Orlando area to Key West, with a stop in Miami, which is somewhat of a halfway point. The Miami Zoo is at the top of many lists of best places to visit as a family while in the Miami area so we definitely wanted to make a stop there.
