Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of the the Deluxe Resorts at Walt Disney World. We snagged reservations at one of their premier restaurants, Ohana, which serves a family style brunch featuring character appearances and a fun parade during the meal with Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto!
We visited on a gorgeous March Sunday morning and were stunned at the beauty of the resort’s main lobby. My hubby smiled warmly and said he was really feeling the “Hawaii vibes” as we listen to the soft ukelele music and the smell of fresh flowers wafted through the air.
Ohana is located on the second floor of the main building; much of the second floor is open to the main lobby below, allowing for a grand open air feeling to the entire space. The decorations are beautiful and you truly feel like you’ve been transported to the Pacific Islands…
We waited a bit in the lounge outside the entrance to Ohana and took in the view of the pool area and grounds.
When our table was ready we were greeted by our “Cousin”. Ohana means “family” and in keeping with the theme, all the staff request you call them “cousin”, which I felt was a nice touch. We were seated and introduced to our server who explained that the brunch at Ohana is served family style.
The meal starts with a fresh fruit platter and a plate of homemade coconut/pineapple breads and raisin hawaiian breads, which were just incredible. The server poured fresh fruit juice for everyone and this was also refilled throughout the meal. Next a large platter of biscuits, waffles, scrambled eggs, potatoes, turkey bacon and sausage would be placed in the middle of the table and replaced as many times as needed. We shared with our “cousin” that we were mostly vegetarian and not interested in the breakfast meat; she immediately offered to have the chef prepare and platter of mixed veges as a substitution.
After a short wait our food arrived and we were not disappointed. Every item was served generously and tasted great. We were particularly surprised at how yummy the vegetable plate was! Mixed vegetable were sauteed and placed over a bed of breakfast potatoes. We ate heartily and the kids enjoyed everything they tried.
Throughout the meal we were treated with appearances and greetings from Disney Characters! Lilo and Stitch wandered around, independently of each other and interacted with kids and adults at the tables.
Disney photo staff were on hand to take professional photos which we accessed easily through PhotoPass. Mickey and Pluto even came by and all the characters led the kids in a parade around the dining room with maracas and other musical instruments.
We totally enjoyed our experience at Ohana at hope to return sometime in the near future! Have any of you had the opportunity to stay at the beautiful Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World?
